The quirky South Korean mystery-comedy series, “Chicken Nugget,” has officially been nominated for Best Comedy at the 53rd International Emmy Awards. The nomination was announced by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on Saturday.
The bizarre and hilarious Netflix original series will be competing against international contenders including “Iris” from France, “Ludwig” from Britain, and “They Came at Night” from Mexico.

A Father’s Fried Fiasco
Released on March 15, 2024, “Chicken Nugget” is based on a popular webtoon of the same name. The series stars veteran actor Ryu Seung-ryong and Ahn Jae-hong. The story follows a father’s frantic and surreal journey to save his daughter, played by Kim Yoo-jung, after she is accidentally transformed into a chicken nugget by a mysterious machine.

This nomination continues a trend of recognition for Korean television on the global stage. In 2022, the historical romance drama “The King’s Affection” took home the prestigious award.
The winners of this year’s International Emmy Awards will be revealed at a ceremony in New York City on November 24.
